Allowances

Jesus did not come simply to proclaim a message. He built a community that could sustain his discipleship movement as a message. Jesus called people to leave family and friends to join a new set of family and friends and demonstrated that it takes a community to reach a community. (p128 Barker)

a Dave thought...
It has taken me a while to realise some of the great ways the salvos are set up. Like allowances, I believe it is a brilliant idea that we all get the same allowance regardless of our position or title. To understand that a lieutenant looking after a small ministry is receiving the same allowance as the commissioner who has this huge responsibility does not make any worldly sense, but when you understand the way Jesus sets things up it makes perfect sense.
