a Jesus thought...
Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me. (Luke 7:22-23)
a Godly thought...
Church is the result of mission, not the aim of mission. (p149 Barker)
a leading thought...
Once he saw where the Father was working, Jesus immediately knew the agenda for his ministry. Likewise, he trained his disciples to watch for God's activity rather than to set their own agendas. (p28 Blackaby)
a Dave thought...
It is interesting that we aim to plant churches more than we aim to reform communities. If our aim is to plant churches we will invest in the most afluent suburbs as that is where Churches flourish, but if our aim is to reform communities we will invest in poor neighbourhoods as light has the most effect in the darkest places. So let us make sure our aim is to reform communities and hopefully new churches will be the result of these pursuits.

Just a thought.

Hi Dave,
enjoying your blog and want to say a big AMEN to today's Dave thought. We the church are not the church if we are not practically engaged in transforming society and building community. We do not exist for ourselves. Wish you could visit our Corps here in Mt. Albert.Haven't been this inspired in a Corps since Alice Springs when we finally got our act together and started ministry among the Aboriginal communities.
Anyhow, great to hear how things are going for you over there. We continue to support you with our words and prayers.
Sandy
Hi- I get you but I disagree - the Church is the MEANS of mission (not result). And planting new ones is a means of reforming communities. grace
